Psalm 56 3-4
When I Am Afraid, I put my trust in You. In God, whose word I praise - in God I trust and am not afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?
This passage speaks to the power of trust in God when fear tries to take over. It acknowledges that fear is a natural human response, but it does not have to define our actions or decisions. By choosing to place trust in God and His word, we shift our focus away from uncertainty and onto His faithfulness and promises. Praising God’s word reflects confidence in His truth and guidance, even when circumstances feel overwhelming.
The verse also puts human opposition into perspective. When our trust is rooted in God, the actions or opinions of others lose their power to intimidate us. It serves as a reminder that God’s authority is greater than any fear we face, offering peace, courage, and strength to move forward without being controlled by anxiety or doubt.
Merry Christmas!
